Just Greenery and Humid Air

IMG_2642
Did you know Iowa is hot? Like really hot. It is also really humid.. Like 90% humidity. So basically when you walk outside it feels like it's raining, raining sweat. And when there is a breeze, it's like an old man breathing in your face. So of course my camera, which has been enjoying the air conditioner, immediately becomes a fog machine.

I forget how awkward it is to take pictures of myself. I could hear the neighbor boys, I think they 13 and 15, playing on the other side of the treeline. I was hoping they wouldn't hear my grumbling about my foggy camera, or my dying battery in my remote. I could clearly use some practice hiding that little thing.

Winter Sunshine _ Outfittt

This was the first time I used both my tripod and remote. What an exciting, and chilling, adventure. I just went right out the back door, but it was still fun!

Shirt; Italy.. Skirt; Thrifted, Belt; Clothes Swap,
Tights; Kohls, Boots; Walmart, Necklace; fivemagicbeans, Flower Barrette; Forever 21

Next time I will try to move around more, and get a couple detail shots. It seems everywhere is getting ooldes of snow, and Iowa is too. Looks like I won't be taking many outfit pictures until that clears up, unless I find a space inside. Hopefully tomorrow I will be going to Grinnell with Matt to visit Ivy and Andy. I haven't seen her since August, and I am thrilled. I will certainly take lots of photos to share!

Keepin' Things Simple

Ooopps! It's been a while. But I have lots to tell you now so if your procrastinating something right now you're in luck.

This is what I am wearing.. Right now! I haven't taken outfit pictures in a long long time. As you saw in my last post I'm asking for a tripod and remote for Christmas, which will, I'm sure, lead to more of those. You can see my pretty new room in the background. Unfortunately I have to leave it, but they just keep getting better, so the future is bright!

[shirt] an Italian brand that I can't read while it's on my body.. [skirt] goodwill; hemmed [belt] goodwill [tights] Wal-Mart [boots] Wal-Mart (( the ones I wear all the time ))

I have been curling my hair a lot recently. The kind of curls where you just wrap your hair around the barrel of the curling iron.. Does that actually have a name? Either way I love how my hair turns out when I do this. The 2nd day after you wash your hair is always such a great hair day. For those of you who just said "Ew, no. My hair is so greasy!" There is hope! If you want to wash your hair less it's a marginally annoying process, but so worth not having to wash everyday. It's even healthier for your hair! 1st you must suffer through a couple days of greasy hair. Just do it over the weekend, and dig our all your cute hats. I can go 3 days without washing my hair.. my sceret.. it's actually not a secret.. Which is the 2nd step, dry shampoo! I am an old school girl so I use Psssssst Instant Spray Shampoo. I can only find it at Walgreens, and it's about $5 for a bottle.

My Mom can remember this being around when she was a kid. Matt's Grandma told me she used to use it when she was still finger waving her hair (( Ah! I LOVE HER! )). It works, trust me. However I do caution you that sometimes you get a rogue bottle that seems to just randomly spray in crazy directions and ends  up all over your mirror. I have also tried the TRESemme Dry Shampoo.

I did not like it. For those of you who have not used a dry shampoo, you can either get them in the color of your hair, or, like both Psssssst and TRESemme, white. They come out in a sort of powder that you let sit on your hair for a couple minutes (( to absorb the oil )) and then you just sort of toss your hair about, or use a brush (( I'd recommend a bore-bristle bush .. I use a fake one, works fine. Don't spend $100+ on a hairbrush or you need to stop reading my blog cause you're dumbbb )) The thing I didn't like about the TRESemme brand was that it left my hair feeling really dry and dull in color. Yuck.

There's my little review on Dry Shampoo. When I get a real job and have cash to splurge on something I am trying the Bumble & Bumble brand. It's $35 for a 4.4oz.. Yikes. But it is a colored powder and I am so curious as to how a professional dry shampoo works in comparison. If you already use dry shampoo, what brand do you use? Why do you like it?

Alright I'll be back with another post shortly!

Bittersweet Sunday

I have a love/hate relationship with Sunday. When they don't end in Matthew and I leaving each other, I love them. When they do end that way, I hate them, passionately. So the beginning of my Sunday was lovely, but when 5 o'clock rolled around, not so much.

Matt and I checked out a restaurant called Yanni's, which serves Italian food. On Sundays they offer a buffet, little did we know it was a Greek buffet. It was less than marginal, so I skipped on picture taking there.

After lunch we went to Wal-Mart to buy pumpkins. I had planned to recreate this beauty, so I needed to find myself the proper tools. I thought good ole' Menards would have them, NOPE. We spent at least an hour searching for the tool I needed. I ended up making a simpler version of the pumpkin because I couldn't create the smaller details.

Matt had never carved a pumpkin before! I couldn't believe it. He was so grossed out (and angered) by what was inside of the pumpkin, it was hilarious. I suggested something simple and he said "It's going to look like a piece of shit".. And so he made.. A pile of shit.

I loved my pumpkin.

I just thought this looked spooky.

I am ending my weekend watching The Crazies. I just added a bunch of horror films to our Netflix Instant Queue which I am looking forward to watching this weekend. I only have two days of school this week, and four days of work. Then I'm heading back to Cedar Falls to get my car fixed, spend time with my family and friends, and make our Halloween costumes. I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and has a wonderful week. I'll be back tomorrow.

Fall-ing for Sunflowers

[dress] thrifted by Anna [cardigan] Target [tights] Target [boots] Walmart

My sweet new roommate, Mallory, took these photos of me. I'm so happy to finally have someone that is more than happy to take my picture every day (( that sounds so silly )). We hadn't been outside but 2 minutes and she was already rattling off places to take more pictures. I'm thrilled!

Up Next; A few of my favorite finds in Martha Stewart's Living "Bright Idea's for Fall". I'm so excited to share this magazine, and all it's fun, with you.

You're wearing a T-Shirt?!

Yep! I have been trying to find ways to wear T-shirts, but it seemed so daunting. Everytime I'd find myself in a T-shirt I was on my way to bed. How could I possibly be comfortable going out in what I'd wear in bed? Well.. I'm wearing a Sacred Diamond Tattoo tee, they are one of Matt's sponsors.

I can't wait to try out more ways to wear T-shirts! Check back later today for Thrifted Thursdays!

We Both Love Them

Anna and I went thrifting yesterday. We found the most beautiful floral print pants, so we decided to share them. I took them home first and just had to wear them today. I don't think this is the best outfit I could wear with them, they still look a bit awkward. But they are so comfy (( 97% cotton, 3% Spandex )), and pretty! I just need a little practice with them.

Watch out for a big Thrifted Thursday update tomorrow!

Guess Who's Back

I can't tell you how many times I have opened up blogger, began to type an entry, and just gave up because it felt like too much work. It's not that blogging takes "too much work," I just have so many entries I want to write, and that seems like too much work. It's high time I got back to work and just start so it can be enjoyable again. I used to be able to blog almost every day, no problem. I suppose when you are in 7th grade you not only have more free time, you have no shame in talking about yourself for hours. So, with that, here we go;

I'm not going to update you on all the juicey details of my life because I figure if you are reading this, you already know them. And by the time I have readers who don't know them I'll have enough posts that the current details should be irrelevant.. hello infamous run-on sentences.

Eventually I will have some sort of scheduled daily posts, i.e.; Music Monday, Tutorial Tuesday, Wardrobe Wednesday, etc. But for now I'm just going to catch up on some of the posts I've been meaning to write.

Here are a couple outfits I've worn over the last couple weeks. My closet has been slightly unfulfilling for some reason. I keep accumulating clothes, despite my dwindling funds. Mostly in part to my bestest gal pal Anna. She donated a bunch of clothes to my closet, my favorite being a black leather bomber jacket ( I believe it's from target). Unfortunately two of the three dresses she gave me are two short. Being tall, and having a giant butt, however babe-like my boyfriend thinks I am, I have difficulty finding dresses that don't show off my best ass-set, if you know what I mean. I am hoping to alter both dresses, which I am more than willing to do. Perhaps I will post how to do this on the bloggg.

I hope you enjoyed my second "first" post. I have every intention of being back tomorrow, and the next day, and the next, and the next, etc. etc.
